I recently handled a mail in request from the lower 48 for an Xbox Series X setup. This was not a hardware repair. The system was sent in so I could install XBSX2 and set up the requested games.
Shipping to and from Alaska is usually very reasonable, often under $10 for handhelds, but in this case the package was larger and the timing around the holidays pushed shipping costs higher than normal. Because of that, I encouraged the customer to go the remote route instead.
Even knowing the added cost, they still preferred to mail the system in. Once it arrived, the emulator was installed, the requested games were configured, and everything was tested to make sure it was ready to use.
I also offer over the internet assistance for installs and setup when no physical modding is required. This helps offset shipping costs and works well for customers who want the same result without mailing their system in.
In the end, they were happy with the setup, and that is what matters most.
